0035 Medical Transcription I
Prerequisite:
must keyboard at rate of 45 wpm and satisfactory score on placement test.
Corequisite: HCP 0605. This course is designed to introduce students to transcription
of physician dictated medical documents, health care records, and other types
of medical dictation. Students will transcribe basic medical dictation, incorporating
English usage and machine transcription skills, medical terminology, knowledge,
keyboarding skills, and proofreading and editing skills, and will meet progressively
demanding accuracy and productivity standards. Students will transcribe "real"
dictation from a variety of medical specialties on computers using WordPerfect.
