ORH 0059 Floral Design and Marketing VI
Prerequisite: ORH 0058 or consent of instructor. This course is designed to provide the opportunity for students to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to manage a retail flower shop. Students will learn marketing and promotional strategies, how to conduct wedding and funeral consultations and techniques for starting a new business venture. Students will acquire skills in selection of merchandise and products, shop management, inventory control, sales analysis, credit and billing procedures, personnel administration and how to control payroll and other expenses. Students will demonstrate an understanding of entrepreneurship, identify the business skills needed to run a small business efficiently and understand the functions of management. A calculator is required. Up to 30 hours of instructional time may consist of field work or projects that occur outside the classroom.
