PRN 0930 Practical Nursing I
Prerequisites: High school diploma or equivalency degree, TABE, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification. The practical nursing program is designed as entry-level job training to prepare beginning practitioners of practical nursing. This first course consists of activities designed to familiarize students with basic needs of the well individual. The units progress from a study of the normal structure and function of the body, growth and development, health concepts and nutrition, to the common problems encountered during illness. Interpersonal relationships, principles and skills are Included to assist students in providing care for clients and families. demonstrations and supervised practice are planned in a nursing laboratory for students to acquire basic skills prior to assignment in local hospitals for clinical experience.
