Vocational Certificate Program This program is designed to
prepare students for careers in medical transcribing. The programs
content includes, but is not limited to, medical terminology, anatomy
for medical transcriptionists, grammar and punctuation, health care delivery
systems, health information services, ethical and legal responsibilities,
safety/security procedures, word processing with transcription skills,
and employability skills. Reinforcement of basic skills in English, science
and computer keyboarding is included. Aptitude and interest assessments
will be given at the start of the program. NOTE: Students whose test scores are below the state standards for basic skills will be required to co-enroll in the appropriate VPI courses and their first course in this program. Students must obtain satisfactory test scores before enrolling in the second course in this program. Professional Courses
*Students who have satisfactory
test scores are not required to take these courses.
