EAP 1500 Speech/Listening Level V (ENS 1201 ESL Speech - Level II) — 3 Credit Hours
Prerequisite: listening placement test score at Level II or successful completion of ESL college-prep series. Corequisites: EAP 1520, EAP 1540 and EAP 1560. This course will give students practice in the appropriate usage of idioms and expressions and phonetic patterns in spoken English. Students will practice both listening comprehension and conversational patterns through individual and group presentations. Students will engage in individual laboratory practice, group exercises, short lectures and conversations which will enhance their speaking and listening vocabularies, grammatical speech patterns and oral comprehension. Strong emphasis will be placed on phonological theory and practice. Three contact hours.
