MUH 2561 African-American Music: A Vocal Study — 3 Credit Hours
Open to all students as an elective, this course studies the origins of the styles of African-American music beginning with its African origins and proceeding to its development in the New World and subsequent influence on America's indigenous music forms through the present day. The course emphasizes vocal idioms, including min strelsy, blues, rhythm and blues, soul, rock, gospel and jazz. Three contact hours. A.A.
