ORH 0054 Floral Design and Marketing I
The purpose of this course is to develop the fundamental competencies necessary for entry into the floral design and marketing industry. Topics include employability skills, basic design construction in round, horizontal, symmetrical and asymmetrical designs; proper care and handling procedures for cut flowers and foliage; flower and foliage identification; basic principles of design and correct storage procedures. Students will be issued a tool kit at the first class meeting (covered by the supply fee) and will be expected to bring this kit to each class. All flowers and basic supplies (foam, wire, tape, etc.) will be furnished. Students need a current tetanus shot. Up to 30 hours of instructional time may consist of field work or projects that occur outside the classroom. TABE is required within the first six weeks of beginning program.
