Credit Certificate The Electronic Commerce Specialist Certificate introduces students to the theory and practice of doing business over the Internet and World Wide Web. Electronic commerce, often shortened to e-commerce, includes a wide range of business and computer topics including electronic commerce software, electronic commerce infrastructure, electronic commerce security issues, electronic commerce financial transactions, and electronic commerce business strategies. Electronic commerce also requires knowledge in areas of international, legal, ethics, tax issues, project planning, and management issues. The Electronic Commerce Specialist Certificate program prepares students for job entry in e-commerce management and development fields. Students learn skills necessary for design, development, maintenance, management, and administration of e-commerce efforts for corporations and organizations. This certificate program prepares graduates for jobs as electronic commerce specialists, consultants, and manager-trainees. A required internship (CIS 1942) allows students to obtain on-the-job work experience in e-commerce technologies. Required Courses The following is a list of courses required for this program presented in a recommended sequence of completion. The sequence is only a suggested guide, and there is no requirement to follow the sequence precisely. Students in this program may register for any course as long as the student has met any prerequisites for that course.
