Computer Engineering Technology (Computer Technician) (A173)

Associate in Applied Science

The computer engineering technology program of study has three subspecialties, Computer Technician, Internetwork Technician and Cisco CCNP Technician. The Computer Technician subspecialty focuses on computer support and basic networking. The Internetwork Technician subspecialty focuses on networking and internetworking (connecting multiple networks together). All specialties have core classes in computer repair, operating systems, basic networking, and an internship. The programs also emphasize hands-on instruction. The certifications these specialties prepare you for include A+, Network+, various Microsoft certifications, and Cisco’s CCNA.

The Computer Technician subspecialty emphasizes PC installation, configuration, and troubleshooting both hardware and software. Students also learn how to configure a basic network. This program is designed for people new to the technical support world.

Students in this program may register for any course as long as the student has met any prerequisites for that course.
