The Industrial Management Technology (Hazardous Materials Technician) program provides opportunities for those with experience in handling hazardous material to obtain an associate in science/associate in applied science degree. Credit can be obtained through completion of the required degree courses and/or evaluation of military/industry training certificates.
This program will instruct students in the proper handling and storage of hazardous materials as well as all the appropriate federal, state and local laws and regulations governing the transportation, storage and handling of the same. This program will cover the standards as put forth in OSHA 29CFR1910.120 HAZWOPER as well as the Oil Pollution Act of 1990, the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act and DOT regulations to name a few. You have two options in this program: the associate in science (A.S.) degree, which can prepare you for employment or transfer to a state university, and the associate in applied science (A.A.S.) degree, which is intended primarily for students who want immediate employment after graduation. If you choose the A.S. degree you must take MAC 1105, MGF 1106 or a higher level mathematics. The A.A.S. degree requires MAT 1033 or higher.
