  Graduates of this program are eligible to apply for entry-level positions in the addictions treatment field. Typical job titles include program assistant, mental health technician and counselor-in-training.

  Certification and Licensing:
Upon completion of the program, students will be prepared to take the CAAP-1 exam, however, admittance to the exam also requires the applicant to document approximately 3,000 hours of applicable job experience.   Note: You have two options in this program: the associate in science (A.S.) degree, which can prepare you for employment or transfer to a state university, and the associate in applied science (A.A.S.) degree, which is intended primarily for students who want immediate employment after graduation. If you choose the A.S. degree you must take MAC 1105, MGF 1106 or a higher level mathematics. The A.A.S. degree requires MAT 1033 or higher. Please see an advisor to determine the option that is best for you.
   
  Application Procedures:
To apply to the program, students must:
1. Applicants must be currently enrolled in or a former student of Florida Community College
2. Satisfactorily complete all college prep courses
3. Complete a program application (obtained from the program office, 904.766.6663) prior to July 1
4. Complete the College Placement Test
5. Complete, with a minimum grade of C, PSY 1012, SYG 2000 and ENC 1101
6. Via student affairs, ensure they are degree-seeking and majoring in Human Services.
