  Computer Engineering Technology (Computer Technician) (A173)
   
  The Computer Technician subspecialty of the Computer Engineering Technology degree program emphasizes PC installation, configuration and trouble shooting both hardware and software. Core classes are in computer repair, operating systems and basic networking. The program also emphasizes hands-on instruction with industry-standard equipment. Students can also select electives providing experience with other platforms, hardware and operating systems. Skills in customer support and problem solving in a business environment are also emphasized. The coursework emphasizes hands-on experience with state-of-the-art equipment. The job outlook for individuals who graduate from this program of study is excellent. An internship is included in the program requirements to help you obtain the real-world experience employers are looking for. Students who have extensive work experience may apply to have their work evaluated to fulfill this requirement.

The Computer Technician subspecialty will prepare you for A+, Network+ and various Microsoft certification exams.

  Application Procedures:
To enroll, complete a membership application and pay a one-time application fee of $15. An official high school transcript or a copy of your high school equivalency degree is also necessary. Students may be admitted for any term (beginning in January, May, June or August). You must meet with the instructor or program director before enrolling in courses.
   
  Total Tuition and Fees:
  Estimated tuition* is $4,000. Estimated lab fees are $800. Estimated cost of books is $1,500. Estimated cost for basic certifications is $600. (*for Florida residents, based on fees as of 7/03)
