  Computer Engineering Technology (Cisco CCNP Technician) (A373)
   
  The Computer Engineering Technology (Cisco CCNP Technician)program emphasizes networking and internetworking, and includes the eight courses in the Cisco Networking Academy. Core class are in computer repair, operating systems and basic networking. The program also emphasizes hands-on instruction with industry-standard equipment. The Cisco CCNP Technician program also will prepare you for Cisco's CCNA and CCNP certifications. Technical certificates are included as options within this degree program. Students may choose to pursue an A.A.S. degree and earn technical certificates while completing the requirements for the degree, or pursue one or more certificate programs to develop or upgrade their skills in a particular field. Contact an advisor or counselor to determine thecareer education path that is best for you. Students may complete a degree in only one of the two specialty tracks, Cisco CCNP or Computer Technician. Students who wish to add a second area of specialization after completing a degree should pursue a technical certificate in that area. Students who have completed the Network Support Services certificate program may apply to have their coursework evaluated for college credit and applied to these programs. This degree program incorporates Cisco certification training and provides professional preparation in internetworking and networking support. Students can also select electives providing experience with other platform, hardware and operating systems. Skills in customer support and problem solving in a business environment are also emphasized. The coursework focuses on hands-on experience with state-of-the-art equipment. The job outlook for our graduates is excellent. An internship is included in the program requirements to help you obtain the real-world experience employers are looking for. Students who have extensive work experience may apply to have their work evaluated to fulfill this requirement.

The certifications that the Cisco CCNP Technician subspecialty prepares you for include Network + and Cisco's CCNA and CCNP exams.

  Application Procedures:
To enroll, complete a membership application and pay a one-time application fee of $15. An official high school transcript or a copy of your high school equivalency degree is also necessary. Students may be admitted for any term (beginning in January, May, June or August). You must meet with the instructor or program director before enrolling in courses.
   
  Total Tuition and Fees:
  Estimated tuition* is $4,000. Estimated cost of books, materials and fees is $3,000. Estimated cost for basic certifications is $1,000. (*for Florida residents, based on fees as of 7/03)
