Computer Information Technology (Help Desk/Technical Support) (2268)

Help Desk and technical support operations are an important part of computer operations in almost every company and organization today. The rapid growth of computer technology has created a need for help desk and technical support personnel. Help desk and technical support specialists provide technical support and business tool usage advice and guidance to other employees, vendors and business customers for computers, computer systems, software systems and peripheral equipment usage. These individuals troubleshoot and restore routine technical service and equipment troubles by analyzing, identifying and diagnosing errors, using established processes and procedures. They document events using database systems and they track resolution of problems.
The Computer Information Technology (Help Desk and Technical Support) degree program gives you extensive training and experience in computer hardware, software, technical support, problem solving, and customer service. You can increase your skill level and future on-the-job confidence through an internship. Your associate's degree and work experience will be a powerful combination in a job search. A variety of electives is designed to meet individual interests and career goals.
Technical certificates are included as options within this degree program. Students may choose to pursue an A.S. or A.A.S. degree and earn technical certificates while completing the requirements for the degree, or pursue one or more certificate programs to develop or upgrade their skills in a particular field. Contact an advisor or counselor to determine the career education path that is best for you.
