Through our Heavy Duty Truck and Bus Mechanic
program, you can become an expert in diesel technology. Your skills
and knowledge will open the door to immediate employment as a
diesel truck or bus mechanic. Following this program, youll
be qualified to take the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification
examination. The advanced and specialized topics in our Diesel
Technology program give currently working mechanics the opportunity
to upgrade their skills and income level.
The program offers both classroom and hands-on
shop time, enabling you to perform diagnostic and repair procedures
with confidence. Instruction includes diagnosis and repair of
diesel engines (fuel, lubricating, cooling, electrical and electronic
systems) and associated truck and bus systems (brakes, drive train,
steering, suspension, air conditioning and hydraulic systems).
Youll learn troubleshooting skills, shop practices, and
service and maintenance of heavy duty trucks and buses to industry
standards.
After successfully completing the program, students are qualified
to take the ASE
certification examination.
Students in this program may be required to
enroll in basic skills training. This will be determined by their
scores on the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE). Students wishing
to enter this program should be advised by the instructor or program
manager prior to enrollment in these courses. For information
