Early Childhood Education (5795)

This program prepares students for entry-level employment as child care workers in private, public and family day care centers. The listed child care worker course comprises the first 30 hours of the 600 hour Early Childhood Education Workforce Credit Certificate. Contact the program director for additional information.

Certification and Licensing
Students completing the Early Childhood Education program will qualify for the Child Development Associate State of Florida equivalency (CDAe) and the Child Care Center Director’s credential.

Application
Students entering this program may be required to enroll in basic skills training after completion of 180 hours of training. Placement in basic skills instruction will be determined by their scores on the state mandated Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE). Prospective students should be advised by a counselor prior to enrollment.

Total Credit Hours: 600 contact hours/20 workforce credits

*Students who have satisfactory test scores are not required to take these courses.
**Students may select one of the following courses instead of HEV 0132:

HEV 0174 Infant/Toddler Care Training
HEV 0196 Developmentally Appropriate Practices for Elementary Age Children
