This college credit certificate will supply
well-trained workers with a broad perspective on the environment
and safety. There is a need for this training because businesses
or companies must be in compliance with federal regulations, such
as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Guide,
the Clean Air Act, and the Clean Water Act. Employers are required
to protect and to preserve the well-being and health of their
employees. The curriculum will prepare those responsible for safety
and health in the workplace to manage hazardous waste, to respond
in the event of an hazardous incident, and to properly collect,
analyze, and interpret the results of quality air, aqueous and
solid environmental samples in a safe and efficient manner.
Potential careers this certificate could lead
to include: compliance officer, construction manager, environmental
engineering technician, environmental science technician, environmental
scientist or specialist, occupational health and safety specialist
or technician, water and liquid waste treatment plant operator,
hazardous materials removal worker, and operating engineer/construction
equipment operator.

average starting hourly wage of these jobs is $12.88 and as high
as $18.15/hour.
