Database Technology (2151)
Electronic commerce depends upon the storage and processing of
transactions in databases. Many e-commerce sites have databases attached to Web pages.
Our programs in Database Technology give students experience in three popular databases,
Microsoft Access, IBMs DB2 Database and Oracle. Florida Community College is an
Oracle Academic Initiative (OAI) Partner with Oracle Corporation.
This degree prepares you for a dynamic career in database
technology including applications development and administration. You will learn
the skills needed to design, develop, maintain, manage and administer comprehensive
relational databases for corporations and organizations. A world of opportunities
is available in positions such as database developer, database programmer, database
administrator and database consultant. An internship gives you valuable work experience
in database technology.
Technical certificates (Oracle Systems Administrator and Oracle Software Engineering) are included as options within this degree
program. Students may choose to pursue an A.S. or A.A.S. degree and earn technical
certificates while completing the requirements for the degree, or pursue one or more
certificate programs to develop or upgrade their skills in a particular field.
Contact an advisor or counselor to determine the career education path that is best for you.
Upon completion of the program, students will be prepared to take exams to
become an Oracle Certified Associate or an Oracle Certified Professional.
Estimated tuition for Florida residents is $4,000 (as of 07/05).
Estimated cost of books, materials and fees is $1,520.
