Carpentry (5618)
This program will prepare you for a
great job in the carpentry trade. Learn to safely operate
hand and power tools; prepare work sites and become skilled
in foundation formwork, wall, floor and roof framing, as
well as exterior trim. This program teaches
essential carpentry skills and offers an optional on-the-job
internship, which can help you build on your proficiency and
future earnings potential. In addition, if youre looking
to be your own boss, carpentry can provide that opportunity.
This program provides exit points for those who wish to specialize
in a specific area. Students must complete courses required
for each individual exit point. Students enrolled in this program
may be required to enroll in basic skills training.
The hourly wage for carpenters can be well above average. Job opportunities are countless for trained carpenters in new construction, repair and remodeling. The employment outlook is projected to remain excellent for years to come. Demand for construction of larger homes, starter and second homes, as well as residential, business and industrial complexes will continue to be high.
Students enrolled in this program may be required to enroll in
basic skills training. This will be determined by their scores
on the entry-level test. Students should be advised by the instructor
or the program manager before enrolling in courses. For information
