Crossover from Correctional Officer to Law
Enforcement Officer (5676)
This is a limited access program. This program provides the training needed for
corrections officers to transition to law enforcement officers
by providing the basic knowledge and understanding required to
satisfactorily perform the duties and responsibilities of the
police patrol person.
Specific areas of instruction will include
vehicle operations, patrol procedures, criminal investigation,
police community relations, and traffic control. This instruction
will build on the skills and knowledge they have already obtained
through the corrections officer curriculum that they must have
successfully completed in the past. The program is limited to
Florida certified corrections officers and a valid drivers
license is required. The average annual salary for law enforcement

Upon completion of the program, graduates will be eligible to
take the state exam.
