Construction Electricity Technician (6185)
The rapidly growing construction industry in Florida has intensified
the need for experts in the area of residential electricity. Trained electricians
who know the National Electrical Code (NEC) will be in increasing demand through
this decade. This technical certificate will provide the essential skills and knowledge
for an entry-level position. Approximately 60–70 percent of the training experience
will be through “hands-on” situations in the lab. This certificate will also
increase job skills and will complement the Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree.

The construction trades (plumber, carpenter and electrician) are on Floridas
Targeted Occupations List as high growth occupations. More than 45,000 new construction
workers will be required to meet the demand for new and renovated construction in
Florida over the next five years.
