Automotive Service Technology (5609)

An automotive service technician is a specialist who knows how to diagnose, repair and maintain the ever-advancing computerized systems in today’s automobiles. The lack of qualified candidates has become so critical, our Automotive Service Technology program has partnered with local car dealerships and garages to address the shortage of qualified automotive technicians.

Your coursework in the Automotive program will include classroom theory and extensive hands-on lab application. You will use the latest technology and methods to locate, diagnose and repair problems. You’ll learn to properly service engines, automatic and manual transmissions, drive trains, automotive HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) systems, brakes, steering and suspension. Each course is designed to offer the training and information needed to pass ASE certification testing for the covered area.

Florida Community College’s multi-million-dollar Advanced Technology Center is one of the finest facilities of its kind in the nation. Labs are clean, air-conditioned and stocked with state-of-the-art tools and equipment. Classrooms have overhead projectors, and each student has a computer with Internet access for research and current automotive repair database information.
