Heavy Duty Truck and Bus Mechanics (Diesel
Technology) (5616)
The diesel engine moves Americas heavy trucks, buses and industrial equipment. However, gone is
yesterdays smelly, smoky diesel. Todays engine is a clean, quiet powerhouse with electronic fuel injection and
computerized power train management systems. That means employers need service technicians committed to formal and continuous
training in the evolving systems and complex repair techniques.
Florida Community Colleges labs are clean, air-conditioned and stocked with
state-of-the-art tools and equipment. The comprehensive Heavy Duty Truck and Bus Technician program offers classroom theory
and hands-on lab training. You will perform diagnostic and repair procedures on diesel engines (fuel, lubricating, cooling,
electrical and electronic systems) and associated truck and bus systems (brakes, drive train, steering, suspension, air
conditioning and hydraulic systems). Youll learn troubleshooting and shop practices that match industry standards.
