Avionics (Avionics Technician) (5900)
This is a selective access program. This program provides you with the
skills necessary to install and repair avionics systems in commercial and general aviation aircraft. The aviation industry
has indicated that it needs highly-skilled technicians who possess the knowledge of installing, repairing and testing
avionics equipment and avionics systems. This course is designed as a study of the troubleshooting, repair and installation
processes of modern avionics systems, such as VHF communications and navigation, Global Positioning Systems, radar, display
systems, autopilots and others. Students will receive hands-on experience in the repair and installation of avionics systems,
fabrication of electrical harnesses, and testing of systems after installation. After completion of this program of study,
students will be prepared for successful completion of the FCC General Radiotelephone Operators License examination
(Elements 1, 3 and 8).
You may be required to enroll in basic skills training. This will be determined by your scores on the
state mandated Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE). For further information regarding testing, call 904.997.2813.
After completion of this program of study, students will be prepared
for successful completion of the FCC
General Radiotelephone Operators License examination.
