Industrial Automation (5928)

Robotics. The very word conjures up a Hollywood science fiction film. Only in this case, there is no fiction. Robotics is reality. Surgical procedures. Mine disaster search and rescue. Undersea explorations. Precision contact lenses. Carpets and rugs; towels, curtains, and sheets; cord and twine; furniture and automotive upholstery; and industrial belts and fire hoses. Name an industry. Chances are it relies on robots to do what is too dangerous, too tedious or just too impossible for humans.

Florida Community College’s Electrical and Instrumentation Technology program prepares you to install, operate, program, interface, service, troubleshoot and implement automated equipment and the robotic systems that affect America’s livelihood and well-being. You will gain a true expertise in electronics, industrial control circuits, instrumentation sensors, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), hydraulics and pneumatics. You have the benefit of two instrumentation laboratories in every course, equipped with a full complement of today's advanced measurement and control devices. Over half the program is hands-on, which includes lab projects designed to interface with actual process applications.

The Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce supports existing manufacturing companies and is attracting more.
