Medical Office Management (6387)
Medical Administration is about large responsibilities and small details. This is office management on a higher plane. Youll help patients schedule appointments, track and file their medical insurance, manage the billing, and find answers and solutions to the kinds of situations that come on the business side of medicine and patient care. Hospital, clinics, and private physicians rely on you to keep the office and practice running smoothly. The Medical Office Management program prepares you to enter this exciting field as a medical receptionist, medical office clerk or medical office assistant. You will learn medical office terminology and software. If you are already working in one of these positions, this additional training will be very beneficial.

This technical certificate is included as an option within the Medical Office Administration degree program. Students may choose to pursue an A.S. or A.A.S. degree and earn technical certificates while completing the requirements for the degree, or pursue one or more certificate programs to develop or upgrade their skills in a particular field. Students may complete a degree in only one of the three specialty tracks, Office Administration, Medical Office or Office Software Applications. Students who wish to add a second area of specialization after completing a degree should pursue the technical certificate in that area.
Florida has a large aging population and a growing need for medical care. Jacksonvilles hospitals and medical centers add more facilities and services every year. The demand for qualified administrative professionals is high. Florida Community College graduates have no problem entering or advancing in this field.
Entry-level positions begin at about $20,000 and can reach $30,000 to $40,000 with advancement. With further education, management positions can take you to the $70,000 range.
Credits earned in this program can be applied towards the A.S./A.A.S. degree in Medical Office Administration.
