Computer Forensics Specialist (6937)
Computer forensics is a new and burgeoning field of investigation.
Computer forensic specialists are employed in both local and federal law enforcement agencies, in corporations and in small businesses. The techniques and procedures used
by the computer forensic specialist are similar to — but differ from
— physical forensics. The specialist must recover data that has been
electronically stored on digital media. In many circumstances, the data may be used
as evidence in court proceedings and must be handled in an evidentiary, secure manner.
The rules and procedures concerning chain-of-custody must be strictly obeyed.
The Computer Forensics Specialist curriculum prepares the
student for a career in the field of data forensics. The student is introduced to
the legal concepts of criminology, as well as criminal evidence and procedure. The program
delivers a solid foundation in computer hardware and peripherals.
