College Credit Course Description: NUR 1226C

NUR 1226C Adult Health Nursing I — 4 Credit Hours
Prerequisites: NUR 1115, NUR 1060C, NUR 1025C and NUR 1149. Corequisites: NUR 1827 and NUR 1520C. This course focuses on the essential knowledge, understanding and skills necessary for the nursing care of adult clients with medical and surgical conditions. Emphasis is placed on the following areas: common stressors and auto-immune disorders, altered regulatory mechanisms and nutritional problems, problems of elimination, and alterations of peripheral vascular function. Chronic illness and its management is also addressed. Selected clinical experiences will afford the students opportunities to apply theoretical concepts on clients in acute care, extended care, and/or community settings. Six contact hours: two lecture hours, four laboratory hours.
