MUT 1642 Jazz Improvisation II — 2 Credit Hours

Prerequisite: MUT 1641 and consent of the instructor. Corequisite: MUN 1710. This course is a continuation of Jazz Improvisation I. The course introduces the application of harmonic and melodic scales, diminished scales, whole tone scales and be-bop scales to chord progressions and jazz standards. Chord-scale substitute concepts will provide comprehensiveness to this advanced study. Two contact hours. A.A.
