Student Services, Resources and Activities
Libraries, Labs and Tutoring
Libraries
Florida Community College’s libraries,
located on each campus, offer a full range of services to students.
Materials are available
in print, audio-visual and computer-based formats. The libraries
have internet access and more than 60 online reference databases.
The online statewide catalog includes indexes of the 28 community
college libraries and the state university libraries. Librarians
and staff are available to assist students in the use of these
materials. Telecourse materials, conference rooms, copiers and
media production services are also available.
Learning Centers
Florida Community College’s learning centers offer friendly,
skilled, individualized student tutoring on a drop-in basis. In
these labs, students may pursue self-paced instruction through
a variety of learning tools including video, audio, computer tutorials
and paper resources. Subjects covered for tutoring at all campus
learning centers include English, math, science, foreign language,
adult studies and business. Students may stop in during day or
evening hours to consult a tutor, use the various learning tools,
use a computer with current software, and/or review for one or
more of their courses. Hours are posted at each learning center
as well as on the main learning
center Web page.
In addition, practice tests and learning materials are available
to assist students in assessing their readiness for and preparing
them to take the College Level Academic Skills Test (CLAST) and
the General Knowledge Test. Computers with a broad variety of English,
math, science and foreign languages tutorials and exercises are
provided to assist students. A comprehensive, lab/home accessible,
Internet-based computer tutorial program (Skills Tutor) covering
basic reading, math, English and science is also available for
student registration in each learning center. Discipline specific
Web site, contact information and access to each campus learning
center page are featured at the learning
center Web page.
Computer Labs
There is an open computer laboratory on each campus for use by
Florida Community College students enrolled in courses requiring
computer-based assignments outside of class. These labs are heavily
utilized mid-morning to mid- afternoon by students taking courses
with computer assignments. Students should inquire on each campus
for the location of and times available for the computer lab.
