This course introduces students to sociology, the scientific analysis of human behavior in groups and societies. The course focuses on the impact of culture and societies on human behavior and personality development, describes and analyzes the structure of societies, including roles, statuses, groups, organizations, stratification and social institutions like family, medicine, religion, education, and government. Finally, students are introduced to some of the problems faced by societies, such as crime and violence, racism, sexism, and ageism. Three contact hours. (CBE) A.A., A.S., A.A.S.
