Network Communications (VoIP) (6398)
This is a selective access program. You must
have CET 2759, CCNA certification or one year work experience
in the field to enter.
This program incorporates the core courses from
the Telecommunication
Engineering Technology program and is designed for information
professionals with prior degrees and/or experience in networking,
and who wish to gain skills specific to converged networks. The
program may also be appropriate for individuals in other professions
who wish to gain an understanding of IP telephony and video over
IP networks.
The program focuses on hands-on lab-based learning
and is not at the engineering or theory level. Topics covered
include traditional telephony systems, voice and video over IP,
codes, quality of service, unified messaging, home integration,
and many more relevant and current areas in converged networks.
Students completing this program may continue in the Telecommunication
Engineering Technology A.S./A.A.S. degree program and gain
higher level converged networking skills.
This selective access technical certificate
is designed to give a person with experience in general networking
an in-depth understanding of converged networks. Students enrolling
in this course should have a basic knowledge of network systems
as gathered from work experience, college work, or self-learning,
and an interest in exploring a growing and dynamic field.
