Database Technology (2151)
As we work our way toward a paperless society, the need to store and retrieve electronic information becomes crucial. A degree in Database Technology will lead to career opportunities such as a database developer, database programmer, database administrator and database consultant.
This program give students experience in three popular databases,
Microsoft Access, IBM’s DB2 Database and Oracle. Florida Community College is an Oracle Academic Initiative (OAI) Partner with Oracle Corporation. The Oracle courses provide a foundation for the Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) exams. You will learn to design, develop, maintain, manage and administer comprehensive relational databases for corporations and organizations. Your studies will include database applications development and database administration.
All hardware and software needed for this program is available in our computer labs and the Open Lab at South Campus.
Technical certificates (Oracle Systems Administrator and Oracle Software Engineering) are included as options within this degree
program. Students may choose to pursue an A.S. or A.A.S. degree and earn technical
certificates while completing the requirements for the degree, or pursue one or more
certificate programs to develop or upgrade their skills in a particular field.

A 180-hour internship gives you valuable work experience
in database technology.

Local salaries range from $40,000 to $60,000. National average salaries are in the $80,000 range.
Upon completion of the program, students will be prepared to take exams to
become an Oracle Certified Associate or an Oracle Certified Professional.

Requirements.
You have two options in this program: the associate in science (A.S.) degree, which
can prepare you for employment or transfer to a state university, and the associate
in applied science (A.A.S.) degree, which is intended primarily for students who want
immediate employment after graduation. If you choose the A.S. degree you must take
MAC 1105, MGF 1106 or a higher-level mathematics course. If you choose the A.A.S.
degree, you must take MAT 1033 or a higher-level mathematics course. Please see an
