Professional Pilot Technology (2258)
Earn your wings through this excellent curriculum which
includes flight training through a local FAA-approved flight school. This program
provides you with the knowledge, skills and FAA certificates that are required
to begin a civilian career as an FAA-certified flight instructor and commercial
pilot. The program is intended for those who want to complete the A.S. degree
and begin a rewarding career. Upon completion, you will have earned the following
FAA certificates and ratings: commercial, airplane single and multi-engine land,
commercial instrument, and commercial flight instructor.
You may receive college credit for previous flight and ground
school courses, or currently held FAA certificates; however, awarding of such
credit will be based solely on Florida Community Colleges evaluation of
your certificate(s), training and competency. Beginning with the 2003/2004
catalog year, after enrollment, you will only receive college credit for flight training earned
through an FCCJ-contracted flight school. Prior to beginning flight training, students will be required to pass a flight physical from an FAA-approved medical examiner.
This associate degree articulates into a bachelors of science degree program in Aviation Management at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. See more information on articulation.
Estimated tuition is $4,250 (for Florida residents, as of 7/06).
Estimated cost of textbooks, materials and fees is $500.
Estimated cost of in-flight training is roughly $38,960 (see notes).
