Computer Programming
Specialist (C Languages) (6157)
When people say theyre taking a language class today, chances are it is in some form of programming language such as Visual Basic.NET, Java or C language.
C language is the most popular language tool for developing software in multiple-platform environments and a major advance in programming. It is the language of choice for game programming, environmental control and medical devices. It makes programs easier to understand, faster to develop and simpler to modify. It provides new ways to conceive, construct and adapt programs for different types of computers. C++ and C# languages add object-oriented capabilities to C language.
In this program, youll learn modularity using programmer-defined functions and you will develop C programs to solve real world problems. Florida Community College partners with manufacturers and employers to develop a workforce certified by Oracle, Microsoft and Cisco in visual computer programming languages (Visual Basic.NET and Visual C#.), database technologies (SQL, Oracle developers, Oracle Database Administration) and Internet technologies (HTML, Java, JavaScript, Active Server Pages, Perl, XML, DHTML, CSS).
Our graduates are regularly employed by CSX, JEA, Blue Cross Blue Shield, the City of Jacksonville, Medtronic, Mayo Clinic and other regional employers including the government and military. An intranet site posts jobs targeting FCCJ students. You may also post your resume and receive e-mails about job-related topics.
Average annual starting salaries begin at about $51,000 for applications development programmers/analysts, $55,000 for software developers and $53,000 for mainframe systems programmers.
All courses in this technical certificate apply to the Computer Programming and Analysis (Client/Server Programming) A.S./A.A.S. degree.
Estimated tuition is $1,195 (for Florida residents, based on fees
