Law Enforcement Officer (5752)
This program provides job training to satisfactorily perform the duties and responsibilities of a police officer. Areas of instruction include constitutional and criminal law, criminal evidence, court organization and procedures, patrol procedures, criminal investigation, police community relations, traffic control, juvenile procedures, civil disorders, first aid, defensive tactics and firearms training.

As part of the application process, students are required to take and pass the Florida Basic Abilities Test (FBAT), a driving history check, drug screening, medical examination, polygraph, criminal background investigations, agility testing and oral interview. All students must have attained either a High School diploma or equivalency degree (Certificates of Completion are not acceptable). Students also must be at least 19 years of age, have a valid driver’s license and be an American citizen. For more information call 904.713.4900.
Florida Community College partners with an involved advisory committee of leaders in the law enforcement community in Duval and Nassau County at the Northeast Regional Criminal Justice Training Center. Twice a year, open house recruitment fairs allow you to apply for programs and positions with numerous local and state agencies, as well as the FBI.
By the year 2014, law enforcement expects to add nearly 150,000 new officers and agents. Your Florida Community College credentials virtually guarantee employment. To date, we have a 100% hiring rate.
Police and sheriff’s patrol officers average $46,000 annually, and can reach $115,000 with advancement to supervisor, plus an excellent health insurance plan and generous retirement benefits.
This program is accredited by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission and completion of the program qualifies you to sit for State certification exams.
As part of the application process, students are required to:

Upon successful completion of the law enforcement basic recruitment
training, students may receive up to 27 hours of college credit
toward the Criminal Justice Technology associate
