Prerequisite: ENC 1101 with a grade of "C" or better. This course emphasizes reading selections for understanding, appreciation and written analysis of selected works. The course considers the major literary forms and their distinctive characteristics and conventions, principle literary themes and different critical approaches. The purpose of the course is to increase personal satisfaction in literature and to prepare students for further literary study. This course includes reading, speaking and writing competencies. Three contact hours. (CBE) A.A.
