This introductory level course presents a chronological history
of man's quest for flight starting with early attempts of man-powered heavier-than-air
flight, progressing through lighter-than-air flight, un-powered flight, external
combustion powered flight, and finally, internal combustion powered flight.
Particular emphasis will be given to problems of weight, power and control
of aircraft
in flight. This course will also pro vide an overview of airspace allocation,
security issues, the Air Traffic Control systems, safety of flight, accident
analysis, developments in navigation, and economic, social and political impacts
