ASC 1310 Federal Air Regulations/Legislation — 3 Credit Hours

This introductory level course familiarizes the aviation students with both past and present legislative processes, public opinions, and political climates that have led to the creation of vast bodies of rules and regulations that govern pilots, aircraft owners, and aircraft operators. Discussion will include Title 14 CFR (the Federal Aviation Regulations) as set forth by the FAA, and then expand to include rules from other federal agencies such as the DOT, NTSB, TSA, and Congress. Consideration will also be given to state and local entities whose laws effect aviation. This course places special emphasis on current issues in aviation regulation, and pro vides the student the opportunity to take an active role in the rule making process. Three contact hours. (CBE) A.S., A.A.S.
