College Credit Courses
This course will introduce the students to the processes related to clinical evaluations: screenings and assessments. Screening is the process where students will understand and be able to demonstrate the process through which counselors, client and available significant others determine the most appropriate initial course of action, given the clients needs and characteristics, and the available resources within the community. Assessment is an ongoing process through which the counselor collaborates with the client and others to gather and interpret information necessary for planning treatment and evaluating client progress. These knowledge, skills and attitudes are necessary to develop competency in the treatment of substance use disorders. Three contact hours. A.S.
