This course will introduce the students to clinical counseling and psycho-educational processes related to client, families, couples, significant others and communities. The students will understand the collaborative process that facilitates the clients progress toward mutually determined treatment goals and objectives. The process of providing clients, families, significant others, and community groups with information on risks related to psychoactive substance use, as well as available prevention, treatment and recovery resources. These knowledge, skills and attitudes are necessary to develop competency in the treatment of substance use disorders. Three contact hours. A.S.
