College Credit Courses
Prerequisite: admission to the nursing program. Nursing Concepts provide the beginning student with an overview of issues relevant to contemporary professional nursing practice. The course introduces the student to nursing and the health care delivery system, legal aspects of nursing practice, the nursing process and critical thinking, documentation and reporting, and wellness promotion throughout the life span. Integral components of client care, including the communication process, stress management and adaptation, and client education are covered. Students are also introduced to varied health care environments and management of clients. Students develop a beginning understanding of the various roles and responsibilities inherent in the nursing profession. Three contact hours. A.S.
