An introduction to the linguistic structure and conceptual vocabulary of American Sign Language as used by deaf adults. This course will emphasize the development of American Sign Language skills including receptive and expressive conversational skills. The course will touch on the history, values and culture of deaf people in America. There will be additional costs required which will vary based on activity or projects such as attendance to the Deaf club and a trip to Florida School for the Deaf in St. Augustine and other sites. Students will be expected to refine and practice their skills in the Sign Language Lab. Three contact hours. (CBE) A.A., A.S., A.A.S.
