Crossover from Correctional Officer to Law Enforcement Officer (5676)

This program provides the credentials you need to transition from corrections officer to law enforcement. Access is limited to current Florida certified corrections officers. The core curriculum complements the experience and expertise you already have with additional training in law, interpersonal communications, radio communications, note taking, report writing, interviewing, ethics, professionalism, court structure, working with communities, diverse and special populations, as well as information about the criminal justice system in Florida and the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission.

Florida Community College partners with an involved advisory committee of leaders in the law enforcement community for both Duval and Nassau County as the Northeast Regional Criminal Justice Training Center. The scenario-based facility is among the best in the world. It has a track for fast driving in wet conditions and speed chases, live-fire training, a diving tank for search and rescue training, a mock courtroom, an interview room with one-way glass and jail cells. You learn to process inmates, put them into restraints and experience behaviors you are likely to encounter.
