This course encompasses the study of physical and psychological states of children from infancy through adolescence. This course uses the wellness to illness approach with a focus on the child as a member of a family. Pediatric nursing supports the belief that children, by nature of their growth and development, and physical and emotional differences, have needs in health and illness different from those of adults. Utilizing the nursing process, students are able to apply knowledge and skills in solving common recurring health problems. Further, students learn to adapt principles of growth and development to the care of children. Six contact hours: two lecture hours, four clinical hours.
