Prerequisites: BSC 2085C, BSC 2086C, MAC 1105, PHY 1020C and admission to the PTA program. Corequisites: PHT 1120C and PHT 1200C. This course introduces students to the health care profession in general and in particular, the physical therapy profession including its history, current status, philosophy and goals. The role and responsibilities of the physical therapist assistant are explored with regard to: the health-care team, organizational structure, cultural diversity, legal and ethical issues, documentation and communication. A laboratory component provides students an opportunity to apply and practice computer skills, experience first hand the value of cultural diversity, experience psychosocial aspects of disability and role play in staged real life professional situations. Three contact hours: two lecture hours, one laboratory hour. A.S., A.A.S.
