Workforce Credit Certificate Courses
This course will describe the Florida Court System, how courts relate to law enforcement and the rules of the court. It discusses pretrial, trial, and post-trial procedures; an officers responsibilities with regard to court proceedings; proper courtroom demeanor and appearance for an officer; appropriate behavior and techniques that an officer should employ when testifying in court; and techniques for testifying. Description: This course will also include instruction in the first response to emergency situations including traffic crashes, missing persons, injured animals, community issues, health and safety, and environmental issues resulting from crashes or accidents. It addresses securing and assessing the scene, gathering information on the incident, setting up a command post, and designating and delegating operation responsibilities. Description: This course will also include general information involving law enforcements exposure to bombs, explosives and weapons of mass destruction. It will address the skills needed to handle bomb and explosive situations, including the use of appropriate search techniques and recognition of potential explosive devices. The course presents general information regarding weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and the skills needed to handle WMD situations. Description: Students will also learn to perform different law enforcement functions while assigned to a special detail. The skills can be applied to different types of special details such as parades, concerts, festivals, and other indoor and outdoor public events. This module includes the elements of unlawful assemblies and riots, the definition of a riot, the common indicators of tension in gatherings, the types of force that officers can use in riotous situations, and riot control procedures.
