The Computer Information Technology (Help Desk and Technical Support)
degree program gives you extensive training and experience in computer hardware, software,
technical support, problem solving, and customer service. Help Desk and Technical Support
Specialists provide technical support and business tool usage advice and guidance to other
employees, vendors and business customers for computers, computer systems, software systems
and peripheral equipment usage. These individuals troubleshoot and restore routine technical
service and equipment troubles by analyzing, identifying and diagnosing errors, using
established processes and procedures. They document events using database systems and
they track resolution of problems. This degree prepares students for positions in help
desk and technical support problem resolution at first level for problem resolution and
second level for more complex problems.
You can increase your skill level and future on-the-job confidence
through an internship. Your associates degree and work experience will be a powerful
combination in a job search. A variety of electives is designed to meet individual
interests and career goals.
Two technical certificates are included as options within this degree
program, Information Technology Support Specialist and Information Technology Analysis. Students may
choose to pursue this A.S. or A.A.S. degree and earn technical certificates while
completing the requirements for the degree, or pursue one or more certificate programs to
develop or upgrade their skills in a particular field. Contact an advisor or counselor to

Completion of this program prepares students for the Helpdesk Institute (HDI) certification.

Requirements.
You have two options in this program:
the associate in science (A.S.) degree, which can prepare you
for employment or transfer to a state university, and the associate
in applied science (A.A.S.) degree, which is intended primarily
for students who want immediate employment after graduation. If you choose the A.S. degree you must take MAC 1105, MGF 1106 or a higher
level mathematics course. If you choose the A.A.S. degree must take MAT 1033
