COP 2807 J2EE Java Development II — 3 Credit Hours

Prerequisite: COP 2806 or Advanced Java programming experience including Java with Servlets and JSPs. This course builds on knowledge learned in the J2EE Java Development I course and provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to build and deploy enterprise applications that comply with Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE). The enterprise component covered in this course is Enterprise Java Beans (EJB). This course also introduces the concept of EJB design patterns. The projects in the course explore database interaction from session EJB components using Java Database Connectivity (JDBC). Students build Web clients using servlets and Java Server Pages (JSPs). Students learn how to assemble an application from reusable components and deploy an application into the J2EE runtime environment. Four contact hours: three lecture hours, one laboratory hour.
