This course provides the student with the physiological and psychological factors that impact vehicle operation and control; the basic legal considerations involved in operating authorized emergency vehicles and in vehicle pursuits; the civil and criminal liability applicable to law enforcement driving; what to look for during routine maintenance and inspection of a police vehicle; the basic elements of vehicle dynamics; causes and types of skids; how to recover from several types of skids; and basic driving skills and techniques.
